"The Sickos Hack the Server" was the working title for the longest time even as there was never a point where the plot would involve the Sickos hacking the server. I really am bad at titles is the thing.

I wish I had some written record of the moment I realized that the recurring hacker/tech teen who exists as a plot element to move plots forward should actually be the main villain, and also Jordi.

The Sickos Hack the Server in a world where posting is everything, a ragtag band of lower-class "forgotten people" work to upend society and return posting into the rightful hands of the people. • Govt says posts are like the spice - the fuel that keeps the arcology running. Engagement is citizenship. - Posting is an activity solely performed by a tiny elite class of wealthy hyper-celebrities. Are they even real?) There is a societal narrative that one can "become" a poster but of course its false. Getting eyes on shit is impossible.

• legally mandated that everyone must daily log on to sicko Industries post-verse and perform minimum daily requirement on engagement. Certain privileges are denied if you perform less engagement than a given threshold. - Posts are exclusively bad and awful. Teigen, Jeff Tiedruch, Eric Alper, Ohnoshetwitnt shit. Posting cop - guy who cracks down on guys who don't engage enough. Thinks v. little of it. Meets a guy who never heard about posting (computer was broken) and is so taken with him, can’t imagine bringing him in. Big internal conflict (blade runner shit) - another cop gives him a computer + goes noooo Cyber hippie believes in the power of posting / posting dimension. Thinks it is divine. They hack too deep and see it is horrible Hacker for hire - likes current setup of society bc it’s generating infinite work. he knows about roguelike neighborhood + has items from there. Maybe he’s just recurring? Can't think of arc. Maybe he's a tech teen. Doing it for the Funkos.

Looking at an old notebook today and I found what I think is the first writing I did re: Sicko Shock 2, circa October 2021. Pretty shocking how close this is to the finished product
