"Huh..?" Mask stared at Aloha for a second, registering the words.

"Yeah, sureee.." he answered eventually.

* Totally unnoticeable, he carefully intertwined their hands.

* Mask just hummed in reply. Sometime during their game, the shoal filled up with other inkfish. It was loud and Mask was tired. How unfortunate, he'd hoped to beat someone's highscore today. While thinking about this, he had spaced out, staring down at the table.

* The game was as good as won. Mask activated his special and placed the card right across Aloha's turf. It reduced his points by 9, a clear win for Mask. Said Inkling looked at his boyfriend, completely expressionless.

* Mask placed one more card, activating 2 more special points. This was perfect, he had a good card to absolutely crush Aloha's points with his special activated.

"Your turn." he said.

* Eventually he settled on a card that covered most of the area behind base. With that, he activated another special point, making his total 3.

* It was looking equal, both of them having a similar amount of points. Mask was leading by just 4 points. He analyzed the board, staring at it and then his cards for at least 5 minutes.

* This got him 2 special points. He shot Aloha a triumphant look, subtle enough to be spiteful.

* Mask internally jumped, his deck just gave him the perfect card. It would've been fine without, but this sure was a game changer. He placed it down, the squares perfectly aligning to cover most holes inside his already placed cards.*

* Okay, he may have underestimated Aloha. He sure knew how to play properly. Mask placed another card, this time advancing to Aloha's side of the map.

He nodded and looked up once again.

* Mask studied the board for a second before placing a card around his starting point. He had a decent starting deck, good enough to fill out around base and be more offensive later on. He glanced back up at Aloha.

"Yours now."

* Mask even had all cards fully upgraded. He took out his shiny deck, sorting through it and pulling out his starting 4 cards.

"You can start, 'loha."

"Sureee..."

* Mask lazily went over to his seat at the table. This would be fun, Aloha stood no chance. Mask had researched everything about tableturf, every strategy, every card, every use and combination of cards for every map...

"Hm." He replied.

* The slightest trace of a smile twitched across Mask's face. He hated happiness, life was terrible and there was nothing to be happy about. But Aloha sure made him feel like things weren't all that bad sometimes. Mask kept looking over Aloha's shoulder, watching the game.

* Aloha was in the middle of destroying his enemy by placing down the second best card in the game because the bamboozler card is the best unarguably. *

"Heeeeey..."
* he said quietly. *

* He entered the shoal, and was immediately met with the sight of his boyfriend beating up a tableturf machine. Mask waved his calm evening goodbye and snuck up to the unsuspecting squid. *
