Got to see a David Hockney exhibit up in Portland yesterday. Hockney may be my favorite contemporary artist and the exhibit did not disappoint. His understanding of art history and process mixed with technical skill and a bit of an impish streak are a great combo.

With MtG IP they can both design cards to fit the lore and write the lore to fit the cards.

With UB designers have to suddenly become specialists in IP they might not be familiar with. Seems like a big ask for what is now the majority of standard sets.

i second this, especially for the smaller sets. the UB commander decks from the last few years have been full of really cool designs and tend to be nice micro environments, and designers don't have to worry about how to support them in limited.
