The thinking that Republicans can still stem the bleeding is dependent on Trump and his ilk being rational actors who are responsive to public opinion. But they are not. They are wannabe autocrats who don’t care about public opinion!

I love how every political analyst is like “well well let’s hold on, Trump can still pull it together before the midterms” right before Trump goes and shoots himself in the foot.

I saw in opinion polls that Republicans are viewed as more extreme, more cruel, more elitist, but most of all they’re more willing to fight and therefore better than the Democrats.

i think there's a sort of dynamic at play where the GOP get more leeway on international conflict due to how they're dad/man-coded whereas Dems are not
