12.11.2025 17:34 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0This semester has been 🗑️ at work and really stressful for me personally bc I am worried about my kid. But you know what? One thing that always makes me feel good is receiving and giving updates back and forth with teachers I've interviewed. No matter what the future holds, I'm so grateful for it. 🌻

29.10.2025 16:28 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0So much gratitude to the GSB Homecoming Planning Committee for inviting us back to guest host tonight. Let us know how else we can support the efforts chatted about tonight. As you could see, there’s lots of love for #literacies chat! We’re here to support the team!
29.10.2025 01:57 — 👍 5 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 1I think it would be good! 8 PM is also a hard time for me as a parent. No time is great for everyone. Slow chat opens up asynchronous participation. #literacies
29.10.2025 01:08 — 👍 6 🔁 1 💬 2 📌 0I'm sure you of anyone can understand, but sometimes a focus on literacy teachers and their lives isn't seen as literacies ...
29.10.2025 01:03 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0@deroomat.bsky.social we were friends anyway but I feel like our #literacies twitter chats spurred the Early Career Cohort we co-lead with NCTEAR. Strengthened our friendship and sparked the idea for how we wanted to serve the community.
29.10.2025 01:00 — 👍 8 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 1So much same! I still don't always feel like a #literacies scholar in the "right" way. Yet the online space was a way for me to get to know people's work in a deeper way and feel more included.

29.10.2025 00:54 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0On a nerdy level, I felt like asynchronous or synchronous online writing became a chain in a string of #literacies utterances, including in person interactions months late. Writing as social participation!
29.10.2025 00:53 — 👍 7 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0I think #literacies chats was where I became familiar with you and your work, @profhsieh.bsky.social ! 💜
29.10.2025 00:51 — 👍 6 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0For sure! I missed most of the #literacies chat tonight and am catching up. A bunch of doctoral students from MSU were on them from 2015 ish on and I "met" so many scholars and learned about their work that way. Then I met them in person and it was easier to jump right in to conversations.

27.10.2025 01:08 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Oh they are not helpful at all. I'm disgusted!! (but also I'm in education, so I try to be empathetic and know teachers are doing too much, spread too thin). But I'm stuck in a state where the support isn't going to be great and I'm also an academic so moving is .... really hard (and I've tried!!) 😔

27.10.2025 00:55 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Thank you! Yes, we have done social skills group consistently and recently got external support to go to school. I’m just drowning trying to navigate school and I don’t know when the drawbacks outweigh the benefits, tbh.

26.10.2025 23:26 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 3 📌 0Hochschild is brilliant!! It’s a shame that so many people misuse concepts from her studies, which are fantastic and framed through the lens of labor. Her concepts are about WORK. She just so happened to include women’s uncompensated work in domestic spheres.
26.10.2025 23:05 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0What Arlie Hoschild found was that when women entered the workforce en masse in the 20th century, men functionally went on strike from domestic labor—forcing women to take on a double day of wages and caretaking work.

I set ONE work boundary after 6 years of constantly being overly nice and accommodating. And I got email screamed at by a man who I have worked closely with for 6 years, for whom I have always been covering for when he needed it. #academia
