The US is now officially committed (alongside Moscow) to interfering in European electoral politics to promote nationalist and anti-EU parties of the Far Right, from Reform in the UK to Marine Le Pen’s Rassemblement National in France to the xenophobic AFD in Germany. 5/

I’m now responsible for the cleaning of the liturgical equipment at my chapel. As any Catholic will tell you, this is no small undertaking!

When I’m finished, people are going to need sunglasses at Christmas massβ€¦πŸ˜Ž

OTD in 1994 Russia signed the Budapest memo, guaranteeing Ukraine's territorial integrity in exchange for their nukes, 44 Ukrainian Tu-22 heavy bombers and 1,068 Kh-55 cruise missiles.

Which have been fired at Ukraine in this war.

Hard not to feel like many of the world’s problems could be solved by heavily investing in teaching young men how to establish and maintain romantic relationships instead of further alienating themselves via the advice of middle-aged male sociopaths like Tate etc.

Despite the bravado of fascism’s new acolytes, they’re almost always weaklings, cowards, and self-loathers who crave domination by stronger men.

It’s no coincidence that the moment incel computer nerds felt they had the upper hand, they went full fash.

Two women - one older; one elderly - cycling on a segregated cycle lane in the Netherlands.

Two women - one older; one elderly - cycling on a segregated cycle lane in the Netherlands.

In the Netherlands, where the Dutch invest in safe cycling, the over-65s cycle around a quarter of their journeys, while the over-80s cycle around 10% of theirs.

Low Traffic Neighbourhoods and cycle lanes don't 'restrict freedom', they expand it.

I couldn't live without insulation, esp. with natural fibers + airtightness anymore, three things that are very important in noisy environments. (I live close to a farm.)
I have a very short fuse when it comes to noise pollution in poor-quality buildings, hotels when I'm out and about. πŸ˜‰

City-scale logistics lets you move freight more nimbly than oversized trucks designed for the freeway.

In London Town on family business today.

Nobody stole my watch.

Nobody tried to stab me.

Everyone I met was polite.

My Tube carriages weren’t graffitied.

Great city; great people.

Maybe people should stop listening to suburban London doomers posting for X money from degenerate Musk?

Banning street hockey in Canada?

This isn’t about protecting kids. It’s about protecting drivers from having to think about kids.

The war will end when Russia stops fighting. Therefore, pressure has to be put on Russia, so that they stop believing that they will win. Why is that so hard to understand?

My thought is that people should stop trying to use made up edge cases to drive public policy. 50p says neither of these people exist, stop telling lies on the internet.
See also, those arguments against safer streets because "what if I need to buy a new fridge? I can't take that on a bike!"

The U.K’s guilty men want you to forget that the 2008 bankers’ crisis, 14 years of austerity, Brexit, and Covid failures are the cause of our woes.

Instead, they want you to think renewable energy, which costs your household 47p a day, is the problem.

They think you’re idiots.

Renewables routinely generate more than half of U.K electricity.

They also generate thousands of jobs, reduce our exposure to volatile gas prices, and allow us to stick two fingers up to fossil-fueled dictators.

Coal combustion products - Wikipedia

I’ve already provided the whole life cycle emissions.

The material waste associated with solar panels is infinitesimal by comparison with coal.

You could always just change your mind based on the extensive evidence I have provided?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coal_co...

26.11.2025 00:26 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

One 300W solar panel has whole lifecycle emissions of ~80kg/CO2.

During its 25-30 year design life, it will generate 22,000 kWh of electricity.

Producing 22,000 kWh of electricity from coal would produce ~20 tonnes of CO2.

That’s a funny way of saying β€˜thank you for politely taking the time to inform me about relative energy generating potential of silicon and coal, which I directly referred to in my earlier post’.

25.11.2025 23:53 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

1kg of silicon used in solar panels helps generate more than 1000 times more electricity than 1kg of coal.

25.11.2025 23:39 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

No.

1kg of silicon helps produce roughly 7,500 to 9,375 kWh of electricity over its 25-year lifespan.

1kg coal produces 4-9.1 kWh of energy.

25.11.2025 23:34 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Not a like-for-like comparison, but I’ll give it a go:

1kg of silicon helps produce roughly 7,500 to 9,375 kWh of electricity over its 25-year lifespan. This significantly exceeds the energy required to produce the silicon itself (~100 kWh/kg).

1kg coal produces 4-9.1 kWh of energy.
