My thoughts today are with Sarah Everard’s family and all those impacted by her murder five years ago.
Killed by a serving Met officer, her death exposed the scale of violence against women and girls.
We push for higher standards and real reform but women still don’t feel safe.
That must change.

The Scandis are doing a lot better on tax and public services than the UK. We should learn from them!

Went on GB News yesterday to argue that philanthropy is no substitute for a fair and progressive tax system that makes the super rich pay their fair share.
Our arts and culture sector deserves no less!

Polling actually slightly under-estimated the total left bloc vote, in the end.
There's a massive and highly motivated anti-Reform vote in this country.
Huge question for the next election about who has the authority to lead it and where.

ICE will be at the #WorldCup.
Another reason to demand matches are moved out of the US: it’s not safe.
Let’s not let Trump hijack the competition to feed his ego, whitewash his reputation, or advance his authoritarian agenda.

‘A British ICE’ – Far-right fantasy or creeping reality?
The UK already has its own version of ICE. Reform UK and the far-right dream of taking that sinister approach even further
This Government is dehumanising migrants, increasing AI & facial recognition use in policing, and ramping up raids.
Disgusted by ICE? Let's look closer to home.

I'm in the Telegraph speaking about corporate complicity in ICE atrocities for @ukstoptrump.bsky.social
It's not just Asda's parent company leasing facilities to ICE, it's Palantir's surveillance tech used in Gaza & Minneapolis - and they've got an NHS contract.

Legal tools that lower medicines prices have expanded access to medicines for over two decades, research reveals | Medicines Law & Policy
Great new research @medslawpolicy.bsky.social.
Governments - including high income country governments - must leverage all the tools at their disposal in the fight for access to medicines

I am deeply inspired and encouraged by everyone in #Minneapolis on strike and those across the US demonstrating against ICE, and protecting their communities.
ICE are fascist, white supremacist thugs - just like Trump.
Always remember: we are many, they are few.
Solidarity!

So @zackpolanski.bsky.social shared in an interview he had an achilles injury that hasn’t fully recovered - you wouldn’t be able to tell!
He’s right we need to stop and look around, but I’d say this broadcast also makes me want to sprint through a brick wall for the Greens.

But are we really? Or do we just mean 2 different things when we talk about immigration?

Trump’s attack on #Venezuela is a violation of international law in order to seize resources to enrich his big oil donors.
Starmer and his Govt’s failure to condemn this attack only emboldens Trump as he threatens #Mexico, #Colombia, #Cuba and seeks to annex #Greenland.

The govt says it’s taxing the super-rich… but it doesn’t seem to know what that means.
Last week the Chancellor was asked about her Budget's impact on the richest 1%, she said they only analyse impact by deciles (10% slices of the pop).
🧵Here's why that's a BIG problem... 1/9

How Labour slashed overseas aid — and got away with it
The U.K. government this year shocked its progressive base with deep cuts to Britain’s aid system. But there was little political fuss, and some now wonder if Chancellor Rachel Reeves could repeat …
One striking piece of this story is the reminder that many new Labour MPs come from the development sector + remained notably silent on the harshest and deadliest of cuts.
Building careers off of issues & then keeping silent as those issues are thrown under the bus.

Unlike the debunked “millionaire exodus”, Britain’s young workers really are leaving in droves— 174,000+ since March 2024.
The motor of our economy walking away is a crisis that really should worry us.
🧵So, why are they leaving and how can we stop it? 1/9

#WorldAIDSDay today. It breaks my heart that people die needlessly & over 9 million people living with HIV aren't on treatment: due to criminalising laws, stigma, funding cuts, big pharma greed, & the racist & colonial global development model.
Solidarity with everyone living with or at risk of HIV.
