Frankenstein: As with every Del Toro film, it looks very nice but is just so dull and sterile. No atmosphere, no chemistry, bad performances (Isaac in patricular is just too hammy), and the 'monster' looks like a boy band member. Bad.

There's no reason to make this movie. There's even less reason to make it without Joe Dante.

I think the fact that the Cavendish SK recently closed down is a good indication as to how well that model is doing. Side note, the Labia (small independent cinema in town) is decently priced and screenings are always full.

Couldn't believe Ster Kinekor showed Superman exclusively in 3D. I honestly thought it had died out as nothing other than Avatar is being marketed as a '3D' film (certainly nothing related to SM). I ended up not seeing it specifically because there were no normal screenings.

Rewatched Rogue One after having not seen it in years and let me tell you, the work that Andor has done to turn that into a coherent film is incredible. Gone from being a not very good film to a very good final act. CGI Tarkin still a crime though.

When it comes to performances, I think Sean Penn will be the ones that gets the award nominations/wins, but Benecio del Toro was the highlight for me.

Saw One Battle After Another last night. PTA remains the best American filmmaker working today. Absolutely deserves to be recognised for writing, directing, performances and music (incredible Johnny Greenwood score), but the editing deserves a real call out as well. 5 stars!
