If I ever hit the Powerball, I think I would sink a lot of money into creating a HELLRAISER musical with PHANTOM of the OPERA production levels.

Whenever I'm feeling haughty about all the garbage everyone else consumes on social media, I remind myself that I'm strangely addicted to "marathon cheater drama" videos. Am I interested in running a marathon? No. Will I watch and rewatch hours of videos about marathon cheaters? Damn right I will.

Good morning. Today is National Indie Bookstore Day. Instead of shopping at Amazon, B&N, etc give stores like Vortex Books & Comics, Park Books, Midtown Scholar, Butcher Cabin, Bucket of Blood, Poisoned Pen, Cupboard Maker, Mysterious Galaxy, etc your business. Most have online stores, as well!

Fuck this shit.

Talk to your local librarian about any number of really great recent horror books by BIPOC authors.

Spite House by @comptonwrites.bsky.social comes readily to mind, for example.

Getting a tree trimmed at the house. Guy comes to give us an estimate talks about cypresses, elms and oaks with impressive enthusiasm. I immediately wonder if he's ever had to deal with a monster tree, or haunted tree, or cursed tree. A story he's never told. Gonna ask when he's done. #horrorbrain

"One reason why Val Kilmer is rightly praised for his magnetic turn as Holliday is that he makes a murderous, borderline-psychopathic asshole likable...He’s a scoundrel at best, a bloodthirsty, opportunistic murderer at worst."

Yet Holliday's the most beloved character in the film, by far.

I think Val Kilmer was almost too good. He could be funny, quirky, heroic, villainous. A character actor with leading man looks. He was made to be a show-stealer.

"Early on, Ol’ Dirty Bastard and I used to watch kung fu movies, leave the theater, do some kung fu fighting, get on the train, keep fighting, and then run into MCs and musically battle them like it was a kung fu fight. That was my weekend habit." - RZA.

This should have been the whole TV series.

I'm at my favorite away-from-home writing spot, alone at a table for six because. A couple of men came up to ask if they could take two chairs, and of course I said yes, but then thought, "What kind of person would say no?" And now I need to write about this imagined, disagreeable individual.

I'm fond of saying "read less writing advice, read more writing." So this isn't so much "writing advice" as it is "advice about writing advice." It's an hour long, it's a bit rambling, but I like to think it could be helpful.
