The Secretary of Defense charged with leading the military with the biggest and most pervasive footprint on the planet deciding that said military has been too constrained by ethical considerations is a wild thing to think, let alone to say out loud. Reprehensible only scratches the surface.

Every time I think, "Maybe I'm not a nine after all," I read something like this and realize there's no way out. I'm living in nine world forever.

Every transphobic argument can basically be boiled down to: "I actually don't know the science at all or have a good argument here, but trans people challenge my long held view of the world and it's very uncomfortable and everyone should be expected to move around my discomfort."

Democrats will often look at something that doesn’t poll well and think β€œoh no, better move away from that!” but they’re getting their role backwards. parties influence public opinion. if you’re purely reactive, you’re just letting the GOP frame every debate.

The first known use of singular β€œthey” is so old that not only does it pre-date singular β€œyou,” it wasn’t even spelled with a β€œth”

When William and the Werewolf, in 1375 CE, used singular β€œthey,” it was spelled with a Thorn

Very much enjoying the constructive, chill vibe here on @bsky.app as I connect with old and new friends.

Thanks, y'all, for making this one of the least anxious places I've seen on the interwebs in a while. πŸ˜€
