This is the most infuriatingly witless talking point. No history is “erased” by the removal of a monument. What he means is “we want to celebrate and honor racism,” but that sounds bad, so we’re supposed to pretend this illiterate goon has some deep interest in the study of history.

I not only think we should tear down Confederate monuments, but we should replace them monuments to the Union Army with the explicit mention of how virtuous it was to wage war against traitors and slavers.
I will melt down your Stonewall Jackson statue and fashion him into Philip Sheridan.

He showed up at one of the online UUA Board open houses and when Meg Riley asked him to identify himself he actually said his name and she said something like “oh, no you don’t!” and booted him out.

Trump doing everything he can to make sure Republicans don’t lose the midterms. Trump doesn’t wanna get impeached, but he also doesn’t want face any kind of accountability (hearings, or possible impeachment) for the stuff he’s doing right now. It’s like they know that what they’re doing isn’t legit.

@MichellCClark:
they made healthcare a commodity, education a debt trap, and housing a speculation market-then told you that poverty is a personal failing. they privatized survival and called it freedom.
That last line hits hard

I don’t know how to not double space after a period. I’ve been typing on manual and electric typewriters since the late ‘70’s, and on keyboards since the late ‘80’s.

I grew up in Maryland in a Democratic family. My mother was a civil rights activist. She supported Agnew for governor in 1966. I was 9. Imagine what the two other candidates were like!

Raskin: This is a gangster state. This is not basically a legitimate government that is sometimes doing corrupt things. This is an essentially corrupt enterprise. It's like watching The Sopranos. Every day, they get up and they try to figure out how to plunder and pillage the people
