Gwen says: "Some folks get intimidated about cooking Vietnamese food at home. So I'll teach you a recipe that's easy AND delicious! Today we're making Thit Kho ('Teet Kaw'), braised pork and eggs. Main ingredients: 2 lbs pork belly/shoulder, 1/3 cup sugar, an onion, 2 tbs garlic, 5 eggs, 1 tbs oil, and your choice of coconut water, coconut soda OR even your average lemon-lime soda (12 oz)! Flavoring: 1 tbs salt and pepper, 3 tbs fish sauce, 2 tbs soy sauce or black seasoning sauce, 3 tbs chili sauce, 2 tbs chicken bouillon and 1 tbs MSG. Cut your pork into cubes, dice the onions, then boil the eggs in water on high for 8 minutes. Boil pork in water on medium for a minute, then strain. This step removes scum! Toss oil, sugar, pork, onions and garlic in a pot on medium for 2-3 minutes. Then pour flavorings and soda in the mix and stir occasionally. Simmer on med-low for 45 min. Crack your hardboiled eggs and add them on top for the last 5 minutes of cooking. Serve over rice and BOOM! Thit kho." Gwen proudly presents her dish and says "This dish is sweet and salty, just like my nu-", but before she can finish her sentence, the can that fell out of frame earlier drops and hits her in the back of the head. She exclaims "SHIT!" as she drops the bowl of Thit Kho.
