We were delighted to welcome Owen Hatherley to the embassy, who, in conversation with Professor Esther Leslie, presented his new book: “The Alienation Effect: How Central European Emigrés Transformed the British 20th Century”.

Our UK consulate is dedicated to ensuring that Austrian citizens, and residents in the UK who require our services, receive everything they need. This year, our consular section did just that 21,537 times!

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Eva Schloss, who had fled Austria from Nazi persecution, became a close friend and stepsister of Anne Frank and later co-founded the Anne Frank Trust in the UK.
Our profound sympathies are with Eva's family and friends at this difficult time.

Press Attachée Anna Pernegger accompanied representatives from the ÖIF to meetings with politicians, government representatives and academics to discuss shared issues in the field of integration.

We were honoured to welcome Austrian author, journalist and political commentator Paul Lendvai to the Ambassador’s Residence, who presented his book “Blind-Spot Politics: Appeasement, Authoritarianism and Hypocrisy in Europe”. It was a fascinating talk, and we thank all who came!

On 20 Nov., the Austro-UK Science Alliance (AUKSA) is presenting the “Real World Impact Lab” event, bringing together researchers, start-ups, industry leaders, and investors to explore how excellent research can be transformed into real-world applications.

The Embassy was honoured to recently host a reception celebrating more than 100 individuals who have recently become Austrian citizens under Paragraph 58c of the Austrian Citizenship Act.

From 12 Oct 2025 the Entry/Exit System (EES) starts for non-EU nationals travelling to 29 European countries. It will record:
