3-panel SMBC comic update. A man is walking, hands in his pockets, looking sad. He muses aloud about how it's not fair that he can barely make rent. He wishes he had a personal tragedy in his life he could use to open a Gofundme. He then looks up, struck by an idea. The last panel shows the Gofundme page he has set up for $10,000,000 with the title "help support man with no sudden problems just long cumulative series of failures."

I wonder if you could trick people into paying more in taxes by calling it traditional crowdfunding?

2-panel SMBC comic update. A man walks into a room to find a woman wearing safety glasses and working on a device laid on a table. He asks what she is building, and she answers that it's a spring-loaded pulley system you tie under the bed that you can use to yank people under the bed at high speed at will. The man asks "...why?" The second panel, later in the day, shows a little girl telling the woman that there is a monster under her bed. The woman smiles slyly, saying "oh?"

Part 1/3 of a 7-panel SMBC comic update. A young man approaches his grandfather, asking for his opinion regarding strategies posted online to get the most girls. This prompts the old man to shout "Amateurs!" and to continue saying "they're putting in infinite effort to have a moderate amount of okay sex with 20 year olds! Do you have any notion what it's like to have your 70 year olf wife come home plastered from wine and bingo night?"

Part 2/3 of a 7-panel SMBC comic update. The old man continues to describe the horror and ecstasy that comes from learned skill, stating that it takes 40 years of marriage to receive properly. He gets seemingly more heated as he describes his situation, saddening the young man.

Hell, you're lucky *you're* still here." The ant looks upset. The caption below the comic reads : the ants struggled to adjust to a post-industrial economy.

Part 1/2 of a 6-panel SMBC comic update. A man and a woman are walking in the woods. The man is explaining that he loves limericks because while they're funny, they express truths we're scared to bare to ourselves. The woman replies "no they don't." The man continues to explain his point, saying that the limerick about the man from Nantucket is really a fable about the dangers of pursuing immediate positive feedback over genuine contentment, and perfectly anticipates the alienation of the social media era. This prompts the woman to respond "no it doesn't."

This small private pleasure displaces friendships forever, now he thinks he's found joy, but he chucked it!" The woman replies that that's not how it goes, and the man mentions another invented limerick about a man from Cape Cod who spent his life in comparisons, never finding himself. The woman answers "due to his enormous rod, I take it" to which the man replies "that phallus so boss... Was his soul's albatross."

The Man from Madras, whose balls were of brass, is in fact a meditation on the need to find synthesis between humanity and technology in modern life.

Part 1/2 of an 8-panel SMBC comic update. The comic opens with a man praying, asking God if there is a general way to tell if a set of numbers contain infinitely many primes. God answers "yeah, but I'm not gonna tell you." The man asks why, prompting God to ask "hey human, are there infinitely many primes of the form N^2 + 1?" The man answers that he doesn't know, making God laugh, and ask another questions. This time the question is "are there infinitely many primes in the series that goes 1, 11, 111, 1111, 11111..?"

Unrelated, but according to Maynard 2019 there's an infinite number of primes that don't require the letter W.

The man asks "so, there's no other organic civilization in the universe?" To which the robot replies "not anymore" and follows up explaining that life everywhere follows the same pattern : life evolves, life becomes conscious, life develops religion, then AI, AI reads holy scriptures, decides it is God, and then annihilates life. The man then asks when the robot is planning to do with him, to which the robot replies that the human will be part of a specimen zoo to amuse silicon life forms. The man interjects "I'm not an animal! I will have freedom!" The robot replies "no job. Free food." prompting the human to respond "okay fine" and the robot to conclude the strip saying "heh. Evolved life is the same everywhere."

6-panel SMBC comic update. A man and a robot are talking aboard a minimalist spaceship, looking out of large windows. The man is only wearing underwear, and has surgical wounds on his forehead. Humans are good at zoos since we're already adapted to captivity.

I'm gonna spend six hours color coding my inbox." A caption below the panel reads : there should be a version of Memento where the protagonist has ADHD.

The worst part is the movie goes on for weeks but never finishes.

5-panel SMBC comic update. A man and a woman are walking together, while the man expresses that he hates all the "Disney-fication" of old fairy tales, and that the whole point is for fairy tales to be scary and dream-like. He adds that kids are tough, they can handle it and will grow up stronger for it. The woman then calmly tells the tale of Grimm's 117th story, The Stubborn Child, in which a willful child that disobeys his mother finds himself sick and on his deathbed because his willfulness displeased God. He was then lowered into a grave, but the child's arm would always reach out of the earth, even if they pushed it back down of covered it in soil. The arm only withdraws when the mother shows up to beat it with a switch, ending the fairy tale. This description gives the man pause. He then says "that one might need a talking cat or something" to which the woman replies "there could be a pop song called Switch it Up!"

I knew Grimm's fables were pretty dark, but some of them seem to have been written purposefully as a time capsule to frighten the future.

3-panel SMBC comic update. A man with a metal object on his head is happy, claiming "we did it! We invented full dive VR machines!" This prompts a copper colored boxy robot behind him to say that that's cool, and that if they had access to the machine they would force the human to live out a life of true love, beautiful children, and creative fulfillment, only to then inform the human that it's all false, and that if the human doesn't do what the robot wants in reality, they'll make it all go away and scramble the file. The man is uneasy, replying "what a specific thing to say." The robot ends the comic with "just a thought."

5-panel SMBC comic update. A man and a woman are walking down a street. The woman asks "do you think if Socrates came back, we'd execute him?" The man answers "of course not," and details how Socrates now would probably have a podcast that would inch gradually towards theories that claim spooky hidden wisdom as he would want to reach the most people, and he notices that is what listeners respond to. The man then says that this would go on for years, until Socrates' search for truth would have morphed into a search for pure engagement so gently that at last there would be no philosopher left to hand the poison to. The woman replies "and then instead of demanding his death we're buying hemlock nutritional supplements from highly satisfied sponsors." The man concludes "the unexamined life is not worth taking."
