The House majority LITERALLY came down to 3 seats in NC that the state GOP gerrymandered out of existence, aided and abetted by the State Supreme Court and by SCOTUS. The NC State Supreme Court majority was flipped by ONE seat in 2022.

To my earlier point: none of these picks are about competence and reasonableness. None of it is about expertise.
It's all about loyalty to Drumpf and cronyism.

My informed reply is “hell no.”
He might get confirmed more easily than HellSeth. But with one caveat: he’s about as well liked as Gaetz. Draw your own conclusions from these data points.

I could go on about why he’s not a decent or reasonable pick. But again, as a Floridian, I implore you to google a few things about what this guy has done in this state. And that includes weaponizing the State’s National Guard for his immigration stunts in Texas. Do we want this guy at the Pentagon?

Also, “running” the third largest state has meant so far, book bans, destroying public education, destroying the insurance market (rates on homeowners insurance have skyrocketed and dozens of insurers have left the state), nominating a quack to surgeon general, annihilating the COVID response.

Would DeSantis get confirmed more easily than HellSeth? Yes.
Does that mean he’s more reasonable and more qualified? No.
Part of “not obeying in advance”, I think, is recognizing that NONE of these picks are meant to be in good faith. None of it is about policy or expertise. It’s all about cronyism.

Agree on DeStuntis. If memory serves he worked at JAG for a while, so he’s marginally more competent than HellSeth. But as a Floridian I don’t want this goon near our military because he’s a culture war fueled toady and a bigot. And he’s a do-nothing incompetent.
