Obviously there's a lot of standard empty water bottles and soda bottles, but there's something about seeing those being so common as far as big brand things are concerned that's a bit silly to me.
It's definitely the name that gets me.
Y'know, ever since I started collecting trash during my walks I knew I should try not to judge the kind of trash I find lying around.
But there is an inevitable feeling of irony when I realize how many "Smartwater" bottles I've been finding around.
Oh dang! Sharp glass is a legit nightmare... I guess the cup did that thing where it kinda suddenly gives out? Never seen that happen while cleaning before, crazy...
Hope you get plenty of time letting it rest and heal!

At the core of our government failing us is that a company actively keeps us from being able to file OUR TAXES easily so they can profit off of it.
Like it's a summary of everything wrong, a microcosm of the whole thing.
I love having my content be split between two channels because any stream that fails to go into my Live section on Youtube can't be just added there for sorting reasons and cluttering random stuff into my Videos section doesn't make sense either...

Twitter had the ability to turn off people's retweets, but now that I think about it maybe I want a slider.
I don't necessarily want to completely disable some people's reposts, but I wouldn't mind only getting say... 1/10th of them...
Part of me assumes this is a result of the internet's crusade against the concepts of shame and guilt. Whether they realize it or not these "Well, actually it's fine because..." niches seem to have a purpose in normalizing a taboo to seem more acceptable in their online community of choice...
26.02.2026 23:00 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0At the core of both of these things is a concerning logic, where the person has found themselves attracted to something unethical/taboo and there's clearly some deeper acknowledgement that it is wrong as they have to add some or another condition to it to make it "ethical" again.

Every so often the internet reminds me that the "Harkness Test" is essentially used by an unfortunate number of furries to justify the same kind of chiseling out technicalities that weebs do when they have their "1000 year old loli" BS.
It's really not a good look...
Sounds like there's some kind of indexing issue, which they're saying affects how the API reads data or something like that? Not sure if this means the posts or follows are actually gone, or if it's just failing to properly read the whole list until fixed.

There are two sides to the "Why are you mad, it's not that serious?" coin. On one side is building a sand castle and driving yourself to anger every time the sand falls down.
On the other is someone kicking your sandcastle over and wondering why you're so upset about it.
Of course the reality I'd think is for most cases like this (especially if we're requiring a high majority of 60% or 90%) the Federal stance is likely to stay neutral and not pass something new.
But you'll definitely get those juicy civil rights added from time to time.
Thus if we go back to Prohibition, the Federal stance starts neutral, States try to establish laws related to banning alcohol completely, and if it becomes enough of a bother the rest can go "actually, it's quite silly to ban it completely..." and perhaps a right is born...?
25.02.2026 07:42 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0But on the flip side, it seems reasonable that if the majority actually insists "They SHOULD be allowed to do that", that seems to express such a thing as believed to be a right, and restricting the restriction seems fine.

In general if something feels like it could fall into "Tyranny of the Majority", trying to filter it down to restrict how much the majority can restrict the minority is probably wise.
By leaving restrictions to the State, it at least shrinks how wide that majority stretches.
In retrospect the idea of something being Federally Illegal is perhaps a bit silly within the power balance of it all. Every federal drug policy has always been a mess, Prohibition being just one of many times said mess was indeed a huge mess.
But granting people rights? That works pretty well.
I feel as though the 18th Amendment was our little teaser that maybe if we get a chance to make a new Constitution, the fundamental relationship between State and Federal should be that the Federal Government can only bestow rights and not take them. i.e. restrict what the States can take away.
25.02.2026 07:42 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0It's also awkward because people finding themselves in more split camps of preference to character writing or world building seems to be turning fanbases into some kind of Goomba Fallacy version of this scene.

idk, it probably wouldn't matter if it wasn't for our creations being a product of our biases and the internet being really good at producing new biases.
I really like getting lost in how a world works, and it's unfortunate watching discourse tear that aspect of writing apart over time...?
And maybe that's the meta-damage of the media theory discussion, it has caused some writers themselves to be unable to take their world building seriously, possibly even spiting it, because of how jaded internet discourse can make one to even their own creations.
24.02.2026 07:58 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0And that's the unfortunate part, the reality of this is the "lore" a lot of times is the legitimate world building of a setting. People have mistakenly made character writing & world building exclusive from each other and introduced gatekeeping that a media can only be enjoyed for one or the other.
