How Iran is hitting a 'vulnerability' of Trump's via the Gulf states Despite their immense wealth β€” and even their past capacity to influence the globe through their control over oil prices β€” the Gulf states don't have much ability to influence events in this war.

Supporting β€˜illegal aggression’ against Iran β€˜the worst thing’ Australia could do, international law experts say Ben Saul says β€˜rolling over’ after Israel and US attack is counterproductive for middle powers because it undermines rules-based order

Absolutely. We become responsible for a whole lot of outcomes that are entirely unknowable. The worst sort of reckless gambling, with innocent people (always) the losers.

What Iran's reaction tells us about its future Cracks are appearing in Iran's regime, but sparking the change Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu want to see will likely take more than killing the Ayatollah.

Laura Tingle : "However, analysts have warned that destroying Iran's stockpiles of ballistic missiles and taking out the country's leadership are not necessarily enough to spark the regime change from within that both Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu are encouraging."

Iran's leader is gone, the limits that applied to battle likely are too The death of Iran's supreme leader leaves a power vacuum in a perilously unstable country. It could end with a military takeover and a new leader with a no-limits approach to war.

Allyson Horn : Iran's future sits on a precipice. What happens next is anyone's guess.
But previous limits that might have applied to battle and war are likely now gone.

Fleeing New Zealand to live in Australia? I’m right there with you, Jacinda Ardern | Johanna Cosgrove I overheard the news from Clarke Gayford on a dancefloor at 2am. I’m thrilled for our former first couple I got the news that Aotearoa’s most (internationally) famous prime minister is moving to Sydney in a way that is only possible in New Zealand. I was at the final Splore festival in Tāpapakanga at the weekend (one of our longest-running and arguably most beautiful festivals) when Clarke Gayford, Jacinda Ardern’s husband, popped up next to me on the dancefloor dressed as a giant toadstool. β€œYeah, we’re moving to Sydney,” he said to a man in funereal pirate garb. β€œCan’t wait!” Maybe it was the joy of a perfect tracklist at 2am, maybe it was getting this breaking news from the horse’s mouth, but I felt thrilled for our former first couple.
