The reason real madrid should fear Lamine Yamal is not because of his god-like left foot and silky dribbling or his insane playmaking, its how this boy loves to celebrate during the trophy parades😂. He wants to do this 3 times every season. Be very afraid

Mención aparte a Chesny! Gran actuación! Vamos!!

Barca raise spirits with a strong performance to start the year Photo by Pedro Salado/Getty Images The Blaugrana were focused and put away the game early Barcelona were focused in the face of major off the field distractions, and got the performance they needed against Barbastro, to open up their Copa del Rey campaign. That’s an important way to start the year, and not something to be taken for granted. Last season, they had made the tournament look as challenging as the Champions League, including the round of 32 match against the same opponent. This time, Barcelona got the job done without Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, choosing an outside of the box five midfield setup instead, and made easy work of a much smaller opponent from start to finish. Photo by Pedro Salado/Getty Images In addition to that, Ronald Araujo and Wojciech Szczęsny made their season debuts, and got just the minutes they needed to ease their way back into a live match. This was an important night for Hansi Flick. Not because the tactics, or the lineup, is something he’ll be able to repeat on most occasions. A better defensive team could have made it much more difficult for Barcelona to get through. Rather, it will serve as a much-needed morale boost to a locker room that has been suffering through the drama of the Dani Olmo saga, and a run of bad form to end 2024. Photo by Pedro Salado/Getty Images A whole cast of characters who haven’t seen much of the field were able to make an impact, and hopefully boost their confidence going forward. Frenkie de Jong, Eric Garcia, and Pablo Torre all had very strong games, and will surely be looking to break through to start the year, putting pressure on the likes of Marc Casado and Fermin Lopez. Fermin, unfortunately, continues to be the odd man odd, struggling because it looks like he’s trying too hard to force big moments. That being said, I don’t think Hansi Flick is doing him any favors by playing him out of his best position. Robert Lewandowski broke his goal drought, seeing the back of the net twice. Photo by Pedro Salado/Getty Images Yes, this is just what Barcelona needed to start the year. Any easy waltz of a game that will set them up for bigger challenges ahead. Wednesday, they’ll take on their eternal enemy of the smaller competitions. Athletic Club plays to win when there are trophies on the line, even if it’s just the Copa del Rey or the Spanish Supercopa. If Barcelona can make a run and win a trophy in the early going of the season, and somehow find a way to re-register Olmo and Pau Víctor, they will be well on their way to starting off the second half of the season just like they started the first. Making a statement that in spite of the setbacks and obstacles, they are a team that isn’t going to make excuses. They are going to let their play do the talking. Photo by Pedro Salado/Getty Images It will be interesting to see what Flick is looking for in these first few games from his players. Does he have his golden starting eleven figured out for the big games to come? Or is he looking to see who is the hungriest and ready to seize their place? One thing is for sure, the next few months are going to be exciting. Let’s hope that Barcelona keep their eye on the prize. No days off. The season starts now.
