This announcement leaves so many unanswered questions:
- Why is Brereton still a Major-General in the ADF?
- What happens to all the defence referrals he has been working on, and making decisions on, until now?
- Why is he paid over $800k a year not to work on defence referrals?

Pretty sure public and political pressure forced this move by #NACC Commissioner Brereton to NOW recuse himself from Defence referrals.

Obvious to most that this should've been implemented from the get go, not after public pressure and outcry.

Buried detail in Labor's bill reveals how the government wants to override laws โ€” and never tell you why

Executive overreach and secrecy are two of the hallmarks of the Albanese government. And its new environmental protection bill features both, writes Bernard Keane.

Excellent piece. The #Albo-tross grows more loathsome every day. Dobbing on Kevin, chortling about it - what larks, eh?

Maybe if spineless Albo had held that RC into the media that HALF A MILLION Australians wanted, Murdoch's creepy minion Clennell might not have been there to shaft Rudd.

Bill Gates has an urgent ask for the UN climate summit Gates' comments reflect how society's current zeitgeist has pushed climate change off the front burner.

This is typical of the kid gloves treatment of Bill Gates pivot toward Bjorn Lomborg-style climate downplaying that we're seeing from legacy media. The beltway reporters are entirely complicit in what some are rightly terming an ecocidal plutocratic agenda.

Albanese confident on AUKUS despite Trump's Korean subs promise As the US president promises South Korea can have nuclear submarines, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese insists this can be delivered alongside the AUKUS boats.

The US industrial base barely makes one Virginia nuclear submarine a year, now they need to make 2.33 a year for AUKUS, plus another huge Columbia nuclear submarine a year plus X more for South Korea. This book goes in the fiction, not documentary, aisle. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-10...

Just quietly, the Albanese government could do with some education about the functions and importance of the upper and lower houses for good governance and democracy...and perhaps also be reminded (again) that they don't control the Senate.

4585 - Police and Counter-terrorism - INCIDENTS INVESTIGATED UNDER STRIKE FORCE PEARL

Latham, Mark to the Minister for Agriculture, Minister for Regional New South Wales, and Minister for Western New South Wales representing the Minister for Police and Counter-terrorism, and Minister for the Hunter
(1) I refer you to the answer provided to the recent Budget Estimates, on notice, by the acting Police Commissioner Peter Thurtell regarding serious attacks on people and property motivated by antisemitic ideology, such that, "Fourteen incidents were investigated under Strike Force Pearl which were at the higher end of offending, being attacks on synagogues, graffitti, firebombings, attacks on cars and attacks on houses", and ask:
(a)
(b)
of these 14, how many were investigations of incidents that did not lead to any charges being laid? of the remaining (where charges were laid), how many were perpetrated by:

Iran or agents of the Iranian regime? other foreign agents?
people associated with and paid by organised crime figures?
(c)
Of those not covered by (a) and (b) (that is, were a product of genuine homegrown anti-semitic ideology), what was the nature of the incident and what criminal proceedings have been pursued by the NSW Police Force?
Answer -
I am advised that:
(1)
(a) All 14 incidents have resulted in charges being laid.
(b)
(i)
(ii)
Strike Force Pearl investigated 14 incidents which were at the higher end of offending, being attacks on synagogues, graffiti, firebombings, attacks on cars and attacks on houses. The NSW Police Force has nil holdings in relation to Iran or agents of the Iranian regime perpetrating these incidents.

No media about this?

NSW Police investigated 14 incidents of alleged antisemitic attacks and found NO evidence of Iran or any other foreign agent acting in relation to the 14 alleged antisemitic incidences

The Minns and Albanese govts both exploited this falsehood to further their own agendas
