Gonna double down with a reminder that if you post a screenshot of text from an article you should alt text it & link to the fucking article!!!! If you found it on the internet you should share the link!!! Do not force me to Nancy Drew my way back to the source by triangulating fonts w/news outlets.

Why it’s becoming so expensive to buy a car in America Prices are at new highs. Buyers are older. More loans are going bad. It’s not an easy time to afford a car in America.

Car prices are up 30% since 2019. The average new car loan lasts 68.8 months now. One in five pay $1K/month. Used cars avg $25K. The share of loans 90 days past due is 8.6%. A figure not seen since pandemic. And 2008-2009. Now gas prices are up 14% with trump’s global war for oil.

#6. Trust Is Transactional β€” And It’s Broken
I asked what qualities would prove that a politician actually understands their lives.

The answers were simple.

Be authentic. Show up. Know what groceries cost.

β€œThere’s people that really have to make the decision β€” am I going to pay rent or am I going to get groceries? Politicians are paid. A lot of them don’t understand that the things of the day-to-day life don’t really apply to them.”

A third of the room raised their hands when I asked if they had personally faced the choice between rent and food.

A grocery store manager who leans Democrat put the representation gap into words:

β€œMost politicians, they’re from Columbia University or Duke University… most people didn’t go to those kinds of schools. Maybe it would be better if someone was there who had a more general experience.”

These young people aren’t asking politicians to say the right things.

They’re asking them to have lived the right things.

John Della Volpe's focus groups with gen Z are always worth reading:

MeToo pushed a few big-name bad actors out of their positions, but it did very little to grapple with the systems and the cultures and the people that empowered those bad actors and allowed them to operate with impunity.

This woman is cool as shit already, and then you find out she could staff an entire jazz quintet herself (plays piano, guitar, bass guitar, drums, and trumpet). Excuse me??

Part of the reason "Breaking Bad" is one of the greatest TV shows of all time is that its central thesis, which feels true, is that there is a monster inside all human beings, and given the chance to come out, it will, indeed, come out.

Anyway, here's an article about a Let the Monster Out Factory.

Copy-paste this but for Taiwan-Korea. The emotion on these players' faces is moving beyond belief.

there’s gonna be a day when i don’t need to be reminded that walt weiss is managing atlanta. today is not that day. i don’t mind, because every time i’m reminded, i get to laugh about the new-to-me (again) concept that atlanta hired walt weiss

Hegseth needs to stand trial after this as a war criminal. Between this attack and the girls' school, there's no ambiguity. He is responsible for mass murder and must be held accountable.

Have we all caught on to them constantly violating copyright on their content to try to get it in front of more eyes that would usually ignore whatever the White House posts? It’s a pretty clear strategy.

They aren’t smart. We aren’t being beat by geniuses. We’re being beat by our own inert system and the bigotry they run as a meta communication, that we collectively refuse to adress in almost EVERY ASPECT OF AMERICAN SOCIETY

It is so damning of US news media that so many outlets refuse to just straight up say that Senator Tim Sheehy assaulted an activist.

He did not "help" Capitol police. They did not need his help. He wanted to assault the guy and did. He should resign.
