The way that music, business, and technology have danced around each other is really fascinating. I'm definitely ready for another technological pushback against the 'corporate commodification' of music, a la bittorrent.

It's also way more work, right up until everything clicks and then it's actually way *easier* and way less work than anything else, such a strange learning curve

If you haven't seen it already, NixOS is worth a look, it upgrades your normal Linux pain to updated declarative pain that you only need to feel once when designing the configuration, then that config can be reused to bring back all the system state you defined in it, it also has system rollbacks.
