I like books, but not just any books. I eschew disregard of the shared path etiquette (local council speak) Equal opportunist. One of the only me.

A "The Rainbow" vibe to it
" ...she saw the dun atmosphere over the blackened hills opposite, the dark blotches of houses, slate roofed and amorphous, the old church-tower standing up in hideous obsoleteness above raw new houses on the crest of the hill, the amorphous, brittle, hard edged new houses

Horrible to see all the plastic 'clay pigeons' on the bogs. These amazing habitats are just thought of as waste areas only fit for cutting, conifer monocultures, fly tipping, dumping garden waste full of non native species ( which go on to become invasive species).

Still getting peeved from looking at my MP's activities. She's asked a question in Parliament about advice for people going on their holidays in war zones. I'm guessing that *certain constituents* have asked her what to do about their upcoming cruise(s) to Dubai etc. Valid but that is very niche.

Or is this line of activity just par for the course when a body stops using one of its facilities?

On today's BBC news website re raising money for a zebra-crossing: "Gloucestershire County Council said ... it could not fund the entire ... crossing as it does not count as a priority as no-one had yet been killed or seriously injured at the site" Ok it says 'priority' but it's not a valid excuse.

Yesterday I got off the bus and a polite-sounding lad asked for directions, but I wasn't sure, so I thrust my phone into his hands, as he said his was out of data.
He checked the map and I took back my phone and we parted:)
Only then did I think I'd been a bit rash. No wonder he looked surprised!

Turned out the debate was about general road safety. I thought it would be specifically about halving the current speed-limit on 1-lane rural roads. It was well-meaning in tone.

But as some people realise, we're stuck with road-related misery as long as 'car brain' (motornormativity) prevails

The sun has struggled to burn through the fog today, but a few bright spells around lunchtime brought out a couple of Peacocks around Penryn Campus.

A reply says "Is my hon. Friend aware that there does not need to be a certain number of incidents outside a school gate, or indeed on any road, in order for local councils to intervene? It is a myth that we need to bust."

One MP tells of a petition to a local council asking it to put a crossing on a busy road. But the, as it happened, Reform-led council said no, too few people had been killed / maimed for life to merit an intervention. Funny and awful at the same time.

Got an email, and apparently I signed a petition not long back: โ€œChange the speed limit for single-carriageway rural roads from 60 to 30mphโ€. ~100 to 50kph. That's sensible. I'll slowly work through a transcript of the Jan 8th discussion in parliament.
