It could be something as simple as kek resembles lol more than bur resembles it with the letters. It also sounds funnier to say. I want to also mention that as a teenager girl raised with the WoW gen, the nonsense phrase "mur/murr" was already in use as a sarcastic noise so that may have contributed

I had hoped that the new cherry blossom trees would be closer to the wisteria in size and that I could spread them out better, but nope.
