Pte Elmer Langford, 14th Bttn, CEF. Wounded at Ypres June 1916, he returned to the UK to recover.
On 17 April 1917, his body was recovered from the sea at Bexhill.
An open verdict was recorded by the jury. He was buried at Hastings Cemetery. – β€˜He fought the good fight and won the crown of glory’

A wonderful photo of Sgt Robert Howe & his wife, Florence. Robert was wounded serving with the Canadian 4th Battalion, at Mount Sorrell, near Ypres, 1916. He recovered, but died from appendicitis in February 1919, whilst attached to the Canadian Army Medical Corps.
He rests in Hastings Cemetery.
