I feel like there are plenty of pretenders out there, who may fight at first but don't really have the resources or gumption if pressed (not without foreign help anyway). Iran may be like that eventually.
(Sometimes I wonder the same thing about ICE)

Look what Roger Romanelli, the guy who helped kill the City's Ashland BRT proposal, and his NIMBY posse are up to now. They're protesting the Grand Safe Streets project in West Town on 3/5, 5 PM at Grand/Noble. πŸ™„

The Disturbing History of ICE’s β€œDeath Cards” The Vietnam-era practice is yet another example of ICE agents thrilling to the brutality they have been encouraged to cultivate.

Death cards made famous in a war that ended more than 50 years ago have made a reappearance. It shouldn’t be a surprise that a war of extreme brutality rooted in racism would have resonance with ICE.

A new Super PAC, "Chicago Progressive Partnership," just jumped into #IL09, opposing Kat Abughazaleh. Filings show they’re using the same vendors as AIPAC.

One of these landed on our fence this afternoon, and our local squirrel colony was not pleased.

Volkswagen "Pink Moon"
YouTube video by Alan Pafenbach Volkswagen "Pink Moon"

The reality is that studios can spend the next 10 years throwing hundreds of millions of dollars into AI-produced, algorithm-driven "content" and yet they'll never produce a work even a fraction as emotionally evocative as a 90 second Volkswagen ad from 1999

If America still had the rule of law, this would be the easiest prosecution ever, but we all know absolutely nothing will happen.

While we sit around to find out how bad exactly it all is, a bit of cheer: the best baguette of Paris competition was won by a Sri Lankan who appears to have started as a dish washer in restaurants and eventually trained as a Boulanger.

Interesting that the fiercest defenders of Israel's "right" to occupy the land of three or four different countries at once are also of the belief that Ukrainians don't want to live under Ukrainian rule.

Sophie Scholl: Student who resisted Hitler and inspires Germany Germany marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sophie Scholl, who was killed defying the Nazis.

She wasn't so lucky, but she was not afraid even when they put her to death.
