Also I get to sit in company meetings where an award is handed out to one team for environmental charity work they did... & another team is singled out for their "innovated use of AI" which as a side effect annihilates the effect of the first team by any objective measure by an order of magnitude.

And since you are completing against your peers people just YOLO it... (never thought I'd say YOLO again). Which means other teams are now running down bugs nobody wrote, and nobody understands. But everything has passing unit tests... because... well... sigh...

What I do know is (where I am anyway) teams are expected to use AI... they are expected have a massive performance boost because of it. But if they take the time meticulously understand code that AI is producing management doesn't see the boost they are expecting.
