40 years ago, across wetlands and open fields coming home from work there were hundreds of fire flies. Within a couple years they seemed to have vanished! Haven’t seen any here now for ages. Visiting folks in Michigan recently, they were everywhere.

My step daughter at about 11 asked what we gonna have to eat. We were gonna grill some burgers so I told her dead cow. She says “what?”. I told her burgers. She said “That’s not COW! It’s BEEF”. She didn’t believe me when I told her what beef is.
