You’re right about your observation. Startups have to be in the frontier to be viable so those doors closed to young people unless they take on life crippling risk.

PE tends to be about cost cutting and slow growth so they don’t hire enough either

Things I am worried about right now

- AI researchers getting astonished by the output of what they are working on

- Increasing headcount is not increasing productivity or revenue enough so hiring managers are less incentivized

- A lot of people stranded without meaningful work

I wrote an agent in bash last night

It has 5 “personalities”, pulls a repo down, does some google search, writes its own code, makes a branch, commits, creates a pull request, has its own internal monologue in the comments, then says “LGTM”
