Cat Grant, who a year before had lost her son, asks Clark and Lois if they’re considering having a child. They’re not sure about it (at least in front of her, as they can’t have kids at this time due to Clark’s alien biology), and Cat talks about the feeling it gives you, having a child in your arms and it depending everything on you. Remember when she got written as a plastic surgery-obsessed bimbo? I do. I wonder where she is now, in comics.

After a fiery locomotive crash, the JLA (minus Batman and Superman) investigate the scene.

Whatever the League’s fighting (Doomsday), it’s fighting hard, leaving the team wrecked in its wake. Included is Plastic Man’s body, all stretched and strewn about the place. This is kind of a common visual in later comics, but this is the first time I’ve seen it used.

Doomsday stretches the crap out of Plastic Man in a rather awesome page. It’s real gnarly, especially as Plastic Man cries out in pain and pleads for it to stop.

Mike McKone, despite being a really good artist… can’t draw kids in this comic. Not many artists can, but in this panel of Bart it’s noticeable. Bart has huge adult forearms, a big forehead, and hair about double the size of his skull. It’s silly looking.

As the world has been split into two, a kid Earth and an adult Earth, the JLA scrambles in the watchtower to find out just what the heck is going on. Plas is really concerned, and I like that because it not only ties back to his older characterization of being a friend to all children, but if you view it with the hindsight of him having a secret kid, it reads as him being terrified for Luke.

As chaos reigns around the world(s), Kyle Rayner makes a crack about KidsWB giving up their programming. Flash, Steel, and Plastic Man are terribly offended. Plastic Man especially when Kyle tries to defend himself by pointing out Plas’ jokes. Meanwhile, Plastic Man looks like he’s about to literally bite his head off. Good for you, Pat.

Aquaman and Martian Manhunter discuss the situation, while in the background Plastic Man walks by. For some reason, he has dark crimson/brown leather boots. His trunks look to be of the same material as well.

I was gonna talk about how this comic lead into Peter David’s Young Justice book, but all the precarious situations kids find themselves in, and the countless amount of deaths that would’ve occurred off screen, prevent me.
