Vikings lose out on conference title but finish regular season on high note February for the Vikings ended with another thud, but they were able to start March off with a bang. In a week filled with massive leads, the Vikings lost a very tough game at Wright State before coming home and out-lasting Purdue-Fort Wayne. With these two results, the Vikings dropped to second in the Horizon League standings but still secured a bye and home game in the conference tournament.

Cleveland State, which fell to Wright State earlier in the week, found its mojo again in a win against Purdue Fort Wayne to secure the No. 2 see in the #HLMBB tournament. Greg Kula has the story.

CSU sneaks by Detroit Mercy before former Viking drops them to second place Cleveland State is no longer in first place. After controlling the division for most of the season, a 1-1 week saw Robert Morris leapfrog the Vikings. With only two games left, CSU will now need to win both and see RMU lose their last game to capture the number one seed in the conference tournament. If the Vikings win out, they would tie for the regular season title.

Cleveland State's Michigan split, specifically the Vikings' overtime loss to Oakland, has put their hopes of getting the #HLMBB regular season title in serious jeopardy. Greg Kula has the story.

Vikings had a lot of the good so far, but this week was the bad and ugly It was bound to happen at some point in this congested league. Cleveland State is sliding a bit while losing three out of their last four games. This week saw the Vikings lose at home to both Robert Morris and Youngstown State. What can be learned from these contests and what does the rest of the season look like for them?

Cleveland State is still on top of the #HLMBB standings, but the Vikings' lead is now razor-thin after a pair of setbacks. Greg Kula has the story.

Win Streak Ends for Cleveland State Vikings But Revenge Against Milwaukee Is Sweet The Horizon League-leading Vikes welcome red-hot Robert Morris at home on Wednesday

Tahj Staveskie had 30 points to lead the Vikings.
Tevin Smith had 15.

Vikings get it half right in revenge victory over Oakland On January 3rd, Oakland upset Cleveland State 71-68 in Rochester, MI, an obvious low point of the Vikings’ season so far, and a game that placed CSU a clear third in the Horizon League pecking order, behind Purdue Fort Wayne and Green Bay. The Golden Grizzlies were led that evening, as they generally are, by Maddy Skorupski and Macy Smith, two of the conference’s top ten scorers.

After Maddy Skorupski and Macy Smith shredded Cleveland State's perimeter during Oakland's upset victory last month, the Vikings doubled down on their scout and managed to bottle up half of OU's dangerous duo in a revenge win on Saturday. Kyle Rossi has the story.

CSU is beating Milwaukee 41-20 at half.
Vikings are 14-30 from the floor.
Panthers are 4-21.
CSU has 5 blocks.
Milwaukee has turned the ball over 14 times (leading to 18 CSU points).
Remember: these Panthers beat the Vikings 2 months ago in Milwaukee to open Horizon League play.

CSU sees their win streak end at 13 (one shy of tying the program record). Oddly enough, they last lost exactly 2 months ago at Milwaukee.

Cleveland State beat Purdue Fort Wayne, 68-58, to stay in the top spot in the #HLMBB standings. Tevin Smith finished with 16 points and Dylan Arnett had a double-double, with 15 points and 15 boards for the Vikings.

The school record is a tie at 14: the 1985-86 Sweet Sixteen team and 1992-93, my freshman year at CSU.

This run has absolutely been unreal!

In addition to being one of the longest streaks in the country, Cleveland State's surge is the longest in #HLMBB since Butler's 2010-11 run.

It's also third in school history, right behind the 1985-86 Sweet Sixteen team and 1992-93. The Vikings can tie it against NKU next week.

Apparently two close games until the end of each when Cleveland State decided to take over. Home game vs. Detroit Mercy This game started off exactly how no one thought it would: a 4-0 Titan lead. The Vikings quickly tied it up with buckets by Reece Robinson and Tevin Smith.
