Well, the Hatch Act is dead for Con presidents with a Con majority in the House and Senate. You can bet it will get full enforcement on the next Dem president. Most likely even when it doesn't apply.

It also means there's no reason to every negotiate for a budget if you are in the minority and the pres is the same party as the majority. Because no matter what they agree to, the Pres can just change it later.

So, SCOTUS is literally saying line-item veto is a real thing in budget bills. If the Pres can unilaterally alter spending bills, then the Constitution saying Congress controls the purse is a lie.

When policy votes by Congress are considered, Dems have not really moved from center-left (but have widened) while Repubs have narrowed and moved decidedly right.
