We have done this *multiple* times with different middle eastern groups and *every time* is has ended up making thing horrifically worse.

Osama Bin Laden didn't come from fucking nowhere ...

Remember, when we wanted more renewable energy to reduce fossil fuels and tackle the climate crisis, we were sneered at and dismissed as β€˜fantasists’.

Yet, when tech billionaires want solar to power the AI data centres stealing people’s jobs, the right can’t get enough of it.

When Bluesky was down today I went back to Twitter and was punched in the face by the stench of abandoned aquarium. Milo Yiannopoulos, who I honestly thought was dead, stanning Hillary Clinton. Dem flaks earnestly retweeting Nick Fuentes. It’s time to cordon off anyone left and introduce alligators.

People do still want to have novel, kinetic experiences with their friends. But the sheep are no longer willing to be shorn by battle passes and seasons and skins and shit to do it. You cut too much, we're skint. For at least the next several years all yall gonna have to aim for Peak not Marathon.

just fucking conditioning their entire audience to avoid spending money or time on their shiny new thing and then being surprised when that has financial consequences???

whole industry starting to feel like fucking Netflix originals, no suits are willing to let a thing take time to grow and find its audience and as a result we can't fucking trust that if we take a chance on a new thing, it'll still be around if we like it

So, in launching a huge bombing campaign on Iran they apparently didn't plan for:

- Who takes over;
- Interceptor shortages from sustained drone retaliation;
- How to defend US bases in the region;
- Threats to ships in the Strait of Hormuz; and
- How to evacuate Americans with airspace closed.

One day people are actually going to learn the meaning and definition of β€œpolitics” and then we can move forward as a nation.

What is it with far-right homophobic publications trying to claim they are β€œliberal” anyway?

@queermajority.bsky.social is far-right anti-LGBTQ publication who supports people who say the publication’s very name is a slur, while trying to claim to be a queer magazine.

US Supreme Court declines to hear dispute over copyrights for AI-generated material The U.S. Supreme Court declined on Monday to take up the issue of whether art generated by artificial intelligence can be copyrighted under U.S. law, turning β€Œaway a case involving a computer scienti...

AI-created art isn't eligible for copyright protection, after the Supreme Court chose not to review a lower court ruling.

In 2022 the Copyright Office said images without β€œhuman authorship,” don't qualify for copyright protection β€” this was affirmed in 2023 by a district court.

I honestly think they’ve reached a point where they should just shrug and be like β€œyeah so?” It’s exhausting because nothing will happen.

Even leaving aside the political element, anyone actually worth their salt - and that includes WB's own shareholders - should shoot down this deal as being incredibly stupid and built on an extremely obvious house of cards. That money could disappear like the pumpkin in Cinderella at midnight.

Except they can't.

Oracle is over-committed to data centers that might or might not get paid for. Paramount themselves were already doing shit ($30 billion in debt all by themselves).

If this goes through Paramount/WB would be inexorably linked to the AI bubble.

Fitch responded accordingly.

I think Netflix is planning on buying both WB *and* Paramount at the fire sale in three years.

Larry Ellison personally guaranteed a number of the cash loans.

That means Oracle's fortunes are now Paramount's fortunes and possibly WB's if this is approved.

Remember what I was saying? $80 billion in debt with $30 billion in revenue (not profit) and a $15 billion market cap?

They're dead. Even if they panic and try to spin off all of the properties they just bought, they'll never come close to profitable.

This is why Netflix walked away.

You absolutely do not have to hand it to people who have welcomed the worst of the worst into their party,
elevated their power, and dismantled congressional checks just because when it’s time to retire they want to make sure their book and lecture deal brands them as a rebel and a truth teller.

The issue is the DoD has never passed an audit and every company is just scamming the military for as much as it can.

There's an article in the NYT today about Palmer Luckey, the Oculus VR guy, and how his military startup already has $6 billion in contracts but their output basically sucks.
