Enemy object has just been growing more and more which I find fun to look in on, when it eventually gets some proper geometry and animations I can only imagine how large it will get. I am using #Beehave for the AI which is a great free addon for #godot .

Added an "alerted state" to the enemy AI, and I'm quite happy to be back working on this project. I want to have an actual level to run around in at some point. I've been rolling around ideas in my head but we'll see what I decide to go with.

Took a little break from the game jam to get AI pathfinding to work and after some frustration I got it to find a decent path towards the player. Godot has made finding these paths pretty damn easy but did not predict my level of buffoonery

Day 3 was certainly more productive, next to add is dragging and damage to the player. I've had some change of mind for how the game functions so we'll see how that turns out.

Day 1 of #bevy game jam went decently. I have an idea formulated and a decent CI setup going thanks to the nice templates people provide on github. Game is called Chained and while there isn't a huge amount done yet, that will hopefully change tomorrow.

Using actual assets now, so I'm making some more progress, next up is going to be getting my lovely enemy (capsule) to move around and attack the player. Won't be many updates on this for a little over a week due to the #bevy game jam.

Gameplay is approaching just about functional, plenty more that needs to be done but it is decent progress. The enemy gets hit and the healthbar depletes so big win for me.

And now we have an "enemy" with some UI. Quite an interesting way to do UI in a 3D world. Managed to get the bar to rotate towards the player.

And now I have moving platforms working correctly. So damn happy with my progress today. Also changed up the models a bit to make em less sharp and adjusted the lighting. Going to spend tomorrow adding enemies and getting the combat started.

I love how easy it is to set up a character body in Godot, no crazy calculations just a few checkboxes and tweaks and it works great.Loving this engine

And I quite easily added controller support, jumping and moving. Some things need some tweaking to be right but that can be done further down the line when I have some more interesting things to move around.

So I decided to redo what I was doing in Unity but in Godot 4. Honestly much the same logic just a different engine but I have found the experience a lot more enjoyable.So far Godot feels a lot better imo. Sticking to GDScript while I learn the engine but might branch out later.

So I had until not hoped that unity would change and do better as a company but I just don't think that will happen. I have enjoyed using the Unity engine but I can't really continue to support them in the slightest anymore. So it's time to actually learn to use Godot.
