Is the KVM USB 3 or Thunderbolt? I worry that Apple's wording is very specific here and maybe there is Thunderbolt support, but *not* DisplayPort over USB support?
(although I think this is a muddle issue now, as USB 4 = Thunderbolt 3 or something? Crikey)

You just have to go into System Settings, click "Displays" on the left side, then click the monitor and make sure it's set to "Extended Display" instead of "Mirror for..."
