Imagine the banality of a university where the only ratified areas of study are ‘complex analysis’ and ‘critical thinking’. Thinking about what? We have already seen what happens when we unleash a cadre of overrated, narrowly-educated adolescents whose only thought is of their own exceptionalism.

A screenshot from a Times Higher Education article in which a UCU management spokesperson claims that making staff sign confidentiality clauses is not the same as using non-disclosure agreements.

Shame on UCU managers for this brazen attempt to cover up bad employment practices. Whatever you call them - non-disparagement clauses, confidentiality agreements - these are NDAs. We all know conditions are stacked in the employer’s favour.

Enforced silence is *always* violence.

Question.... Which employer has lost the following number of days to work-related stress and mental ill-health absences: • 2022: 123.5 • 2023: 468 • 2024: 912.5 ? Clue 1: They were sanctioned by the HSE for a failure to address stress in 2023. Clue 2: They still can't demonstrate compliance with statutory minimum safety legislation in 2025. ..
