Our team secured their first win of the season in an exciting away game! A huge shoutout to our players for their hard work and dedication on the court.

We were honored to have Dr. Dixon and Dr. Thompson from the district office, along with local community representatives, attend this event to hear from our students.

Democracy Began Here! 🗳️✨ Our Civics for All assembly, planned and hosted by Ms. Grange, empowered students to understand their rights, responsibilities, and role in shaping our democracy.

Our amazing paraprofessionals engaged in professional learning on the power of a Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset! 💡✨ Led by the incredible Ms. Fields, this session empowered our team with strategies to foster resilience, perseverance, & a love for learning in our students.

Our incredible Math Team led an engaging professional development session today, diving into the Math Shifts and exploring the Three Reads Protocol!

Today, we visited classrooms to see the impact of the Black Studies Curriculum, with teachers like Mrs. Thomas, Ms. Chu, Ms. Brown, Ms. Grange, & Ms. Cromer leading the way. Joined by the D29 Exec Team, NYCPS reps, & community leaders, we thank Superintendent Bonds & the D29 Team for their support!

First graders in Ms. Mercado, Mrs. Thomas, and Ms. Mcadoo/Mrs. Singh's classes marked the 100th Day of School with engaging math activities. Students enjoyed math stations where they built structures using 100 cups, counted and added numbers up to 100, and created patterns with blocks totaling 100!

We would like to extend our gratitude to the students and staff of I.S 59Q who joined in on the festivities and helped make Black History Month a truly memorable celebration. Your energy and enthusiasm brought the event to life, showcasing the diversity and talent within our community.

Celebrate Black History Month with us! Students & staff joined in the excitement as the Step Team, MBSK, Chorus Club, & many more showcase their talents in a vibrant display of culture and creativity. We honored the rich history & contributions of Black individuals through music & dance.

As part of the Nutrition Collaborative, our Food and Nutrition staff met with the Student Council to gather feedback on cafeteria meals. Students participated in a taste test featuring sweet and sour chicken and pasta with vegetables and peas.

Congratulations to our student Kieran W. who was selected as a winner of the Reading Competition in the CEC29 2nd Annual Oratorical Competition! Thank you to the Wilson Family for this continuous support in promoting a love for reading.

First Grade students, guided by Ms. Coleman, Science Teacher, became energy detectives today! They explored how energy is used throughout the school, conducting interviews with our AP, office staff, kitchen staff, & head custodian. Calling All Future Debaters!

Students in grades 3-5 can tryout for the PS 176Q Debate Team! Tryouts will be held on Tuesday, February 4th and Wednesday, February 5th during the period 4, 5, and 6 lunch periods. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Today, our Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) facilitated a professional development session focused on “Elevating Student Thinking Through Strategic Questioning and Collaborative Protocols.” This session aims to enhance instructional practices and foster deeper student engagement.

Our January Family Workshop, led by our UFT Center Coach, Mrs. Melo, focused on strategies that families can employ to foster meaningful discourse with students at home. The session emphasized the importance of utilizing open-ended questions to actively engage students in conversation.

Today’s Principal’s Chat focused on Curriculum and Instruction. Principal Garcia discussed the progression of learning standards and how we use curriculum resources to support them.
