When the genus known as Megaraptor was first discovered, it was thought to be the largest member of the Dromaeosaur family (the proper family name of the "raptor" dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, as well as their relatives). We now know they were a late Cretaceous family of their own.

NC museum identifies new dinosaur, changes understanding of T.Rex
A Jurassic James(R) approved update on the biggest debate in paleontology
Scientists at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences have found that what was believed to be a juvenile T.rex skeleton is instead a distant relative, the first of its kind to be found in a full skeleton.

I have never been one to follow what is popular or "flavor of the month" crazes... And I am not going to start with this #labubu fad!
I took this picture to 1. Showcase the Children's Museum Houston's endless visiting character's list and 2. To bring joy to whichever of my fans are into this!

It is fully confirmed! On Wednesday, 29th October, 2025 at 1:30pm I will be presenting at Rice University's, Glasscock School of Continuing Studies.
They reached out to me, and requested an informative yet entertaining talk about the #dinosaurs of Jurassic World.

One of my favorite "not dinosaurs" is little Lystrosaurus here, who's name means "shovel lizard" despite being more closely related to mammals than reptiles. The shovel part describes the shape of its face and likely lifestyle of digging some form of burrows.

Happy #fossilfriday did ypu know Stegosaurs, means "roofed lizard".
The next time you visit a museum, consider the fact that the Stegosaur's plates are suspended above the skeleton. This is due to their position in life being attached to the animals skin and not directly the skeleton.

When I was lead tour guide, he was my Tsar of anthropology/archeology. I deferred to him in all matters of the sciences that study humans. He also was the only other tour guide that dressed for the role, hat and all.

Mr. Chris Wells, one of the original HMNS concierge discovery guides, came to my last tour! When I saw him walking down the grand hall I was surprised & happy!
Later we spoke & I honestly did not know the impact I had on his life and career! I am honored to have helped my friend.

I appreciate you all messaging me with questions of why I keep saying final version of this or that. To be clear, to date there are no more Jurassic James® lead events scheduled at HMNS beyond tomorrow. Everything from this year has been as a contract non employee.

Does anyone else think that Pixar's "Up" (2009) was in spired by the opening of Dido's song "Thank you" (Official video)?

During the conference, the CEO had a meeting/training with all the managers, reviewing leadership techniques and inquiring about what she could do to help them achieve their goals. I could tell the other managers clearly knew passages from the hospitality book.

I did not announce it at the time, but I was promoted from part-time science educator to the Children's Museum of Houston's lead educator after only 4.5 months of employment. I believe HR said it was some sort of record.

I was hired as an part-time educator, but they quickly found out that I have highly rennouned management and customer service experience. I gave a training/speech to the entire staff. At the end my new VP said she did not know I was a comedian.

It turns out, if you set a good example, do not overwork staff, pay your employees a competitive rate (in her words "to attract the best talent"), and promote a healthy work/life balance; your employees will feel compelled to rise to the occasion and the customers will have a better experience.

The CEO of the Children's Museum of Houston read this book about how to give the best customer service to your guest.
She requires everyone that leads or manage people (even if it is only one person) to read it and share their favorite or most meaningful parts.

Friday, 19 September 2025 marked James Edward Washington III's 6 month anniversary at the Children's Museum of Houston. We had a three day conference where we closed to the public & offered staff training, team building, and a focus on selfcare (affirmation, meditation, etc) .
