This week at ECCC, a question I kept hearing in chats and panel Q&As was, “How do you find your art style?”

My take is that finding your style is like finding your favorite local restaurant. You ask for recommendations, try a few places, and eventually, you find one that you keep going back to.

He's not gonna be as excited to see you as much as yall think.

You preach his teachings but your actions don't show it.

Tch..... to think I was always called delusional as a kid in religion class for drawing all the time and questioning the Bible too much.

Yet.. we have these people.

People like this is why I turned from religion.

If an artist isn't able to visualise their ideas on paper (or on the screen) without the use of genAI, they are not an artist. I know some artists who aren't capable of visualising things in their head, yet they can still create stunning art. I know others who brainstorm their ideas and compositions with literal scribbles and stick figures, only to end up with a beautifully rendered piece. There is absolutely no excuse for a self-respecting artist to use genAI at any point during their process.

Someone over on Instagram saying that genAI is bad for art, but can still be used by artists who have trouble visualising their ideas.

I had to reply.

Absolutely devastated to have to deliver this news.

Meta has a history of torturing their moderators and providing NOTHING in the way of mental health care. How do I know? Because I used to be a moderator for Meta and I got a $3,500 settlement for the PTSD they gave me.

When we tried to unionize, they moved their moderation to the Philippines.
