This is a fungal community on a fallen logβpossibly *Trametes versicolor*.
They are decomposing the wood, transforming old life into new energy.
The forest's "recyclers" are never absent.

Our son, Luke, would have celebrated his 25th birthday today.
He spent 21 wonderful years with us.
We are about to visit his final resting place at the United States Naval Academy.
Luke was the kind of man who gave his all, 110%.
As Jesus said, if you asked Luke to go one mile, he would go two.

This was one of the longest /biggest gators I saw. You can get the length by measuring the distance from the midpoint of its eyes to the tip of its snout, which is then roughly equal to its total length in feet. Rough guess 14ft.
