Once again, one of the primary reasons we have arrived at this point (completely out-of-control & unconstitutional abuse of executive power to conduct wildly illegal foreign policy) is that no one, including the most senior people involved, went to jail for the rest of their lives for Iran-Contra.

Again, this is the inevitable endpoint of there being no consequences for bombing Cambodia, Iran-Contra, lying about WMD under GWB, etc. It was always going to end up here, without upholding the law, Constitution, & our international treaty obligations. Other choices were readily available.

One of the more disturbing things that has changed since Snowden's revelations is that back then collecting more data increased the size of the haystack without making it easier to look for needles. Now, processing power is catching up. Real-time mass surveillance (not just collection) is viable.
