Fair! Yeah - having to study a text can really take the shine off πŸ™ƒ Thinking about it, I have seen (and been in and had kids in) A Midsummer Night’s Dream so many times tho - I may be fine with no more repeats :)

How about least favourite…? πŸ€” I am still biased against Julius Caesar since we were made to read it aged 11; and also I always get the a and the e the wrong way round…

Very happy to be part of this little retrospective! Hereford Art College is one of only a handful of art schools which offer places on their foundation to mature students (in the mix with the 18 year olds - it was a ride!). Changed my life ☺️

It probably was a bit β€˜tidy’ for hardcore fans (his mum was a producer - also Brad Pitt which annoyed me altho guess he bankrolled it) and there was a sense of some of the darkness being glossed over so maybe not for everyone.

Totally drew me in. Even tho JB missed my radar at the time (not sure how?!), his voice and musicianship and spirit are clearly: wow. Brilliant editing and sewing together of footage. Stuff about his dad (who I love) was a hard watch. Sad, and very beautiful… πŸ’”

A very blurry photo of a building at night - lights dragging.

Just back from watching It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley. See comment for thoughts! Took this terrible pic of library on way home. I like it :)

That is very much a β€˜don’t mess with me’ stance/arm position/regard combo. Taking notes.

This is the news we need - vicarious celebrations will be had! πŸ₯³βœ¨πŸ’• (My mercury retrograde friends have me quivering under the duvet. Sadly not the good kind)

And actually - the prohibitive cost of HBs means a lot of academic/non-fiction titles makes them out of reach for a lot of folk. So them too. (I am biased in so many ways tho - including having had to lug boxes of them around πŸ™ƒ).

This is why (one of may reasons) I am fond of Fitzcarraldo titles.

26.02.2026 06:44 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Maybe not for all titles, but for fiction. I know a lot of people are attached to them, but they cost a lot to manufacture and they also obviously cost more ecologically. And then yes - charge more for a PB. They cost the same as a magazine now - that gap used it be much wider.

Have sort of been on both sides of the arena - worked in academic publishing and also in an indie bookshop (in which my fiction front table was a celebration of indie press releases, she says, proudly 😌). I think personally doing away with hardbacks might be the answer from a number of perspectives…

Went to see Interview With a Vampire first year of uni. Mum rang and asked me if I’d enjoyed β€˜that Burt Crump film’. I trotted off to the next student fair, bought the largest poster of him, amended the name (Brad never suited him anyway) and gave it to her for Christmas. Was on her wall for years.
