The second episode is up and it's fantastic. Dr Myra Williamson is a tremendous guest and I learned a lot about international law and Palestinian statehood.

I decided to do two Master papers this semester, not realising my marriage was about to blow up, I'd have to move into an apartment and suddenly doing academic papers after a near 30 year gap might not be the best idea.

I handed in my last assignment yesterday evening. The sense of relief was 🎉🍾😘😅

Big Tech is so unregulated. If any other industry was creating products so faulty and so destructive, various agencies would be under pressure to rain down hell. But not with social media or AI. Laws around under 16s regulate US not THEM. They need to be regulated. It’s insane behavior.

Once again, we need to define what “feminism” is here. Not everything any woman ever does—not even in the political realm, and not even concerning gender—is “feminism.” Opposing the rights of women as a class to equal status and dignity is in fact called “antifeminism.”

Why, yes! My house has gone unconditional and will settle in January. And yes, I have just bought a ticket to see Pulp at Spark Arena in February.

Things are looking up!

Elected Democrats spending more time today praising Dick Cheney than Zohran Mamdani is a great case study in abject fucking moral failure.

Ask any of your favorite Black women writers from a decade ago why their bylines stopped appearing, and you’ll likely hear the same response: There is no place for us in media. In TV. In publishing or academia. For the majority of us, there’s no place but gone.

THE NEW JOSIE SHAPIRO BOOK IS OUT TODAY!

I'll be making a wee trip to my local bookstore after work in the hopes that they have a copy for me to pick up on my credit card points.

Is there anything better than new books?

The records of those phonecalls from parents are right next to the piles of praise for the school lunches.

I've had parents call me exasperated that their child's education has turned into an eternal marae visit with karakia before every class and Mãori words littered through their maths questions. It is possible to respect and value the place of the Mãori language and culture without artificially inserting it into every part of life.
We're fixing it. As announced this morning, the Education and Training Act will be changed so that School Boards will no longer be required to "give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including by working to ensure that its plans, policies, and local curriculum reflect local tikanga Mãori, matauranga Mãori, and te ao Mãori"
The changes will be introduced to Parliament this afternoon and passed before the end of the year. It is part of ACT's Coalition Agreement to make Educational Achievement the primary objective of school boards. Our future needs every taxpayer dollar spent on education to realise its full value.
Focusing education on actual achievement is a critical part of that. Thank you to everyone who's supported ACT in this work.

And just in from Seymour.
This is the intent. Forget whatever flowery words Erica uses. They want your child growing up in a NZ that is blind to its history. That’s not learning, it’s indoctrination.

18 months ago I couldn’t run and days I could barely walk because of chronic pain. Finally someone too me seriously and it gave me my freedom again.

Never thought I’d do another half marathon, never mind a sub-two hour one. Okay, it was just four seconds but still!

Off for a nap now 😂

We have accepted an offer on our house. Please keep your fingers and toes crossed the builder's report doesn't bring up any issues. This year has been intense, and my separation has given me sleepless nights and left me in bits at various points.

It would be good to finalise this and move on. <3

This is blatant political interference in rge New Zealand Curriculum that shouldn't be tolerated.
Education professionals should be deciding what is in the NZ Curriculum, not politicians from 8% parties pandering to the worst of NZ society to the detriment of our students.

I <3 Emma Thompson. Brilliant in 'Good Luck To You, Leo Grande' and 'Sense and Sensibility' but - and I'm willing to fight you here - 'Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang' with Maggie Gyllenhaal is her most enjoyable movie. I fucking love that film. I cried like a baby.
