I got through another day caring for my spouse who has service connected Parkinson’s (Marines - Vietnam) while also coordinating a group of wonderful folks fighting fascism. And I find several things to smile about today, like bumblebees enjoying my garden.

Tonight, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band opened their Land of Hope & Dreams Tour. Bruce launched this run of shows with three statements about the situation in the United States, with comments preceding his songs Land of Hope and Dreams, House of a Thousand Guitars and My City of Ruins.

NIH facilitated the development of those treatments. Studies on Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, environmental cancers, etc have all been defunded and ended. Firefighters’ cancer research defunded. Maternal and infant health studies defunded. Pro-life party my a$s!!!

Lifesaving studies and trials were halted midway and now have to be scrapped. Literally years of work thrown in the trash. What a waste of our tax dollars!!
We all know someone - friend, family, coworker, acquaintance - who has had cancer treatments.

- we learned it is MUCH worse. Not only how people were treated, but in 4 months we are now YEARS behind in research. There is now a brain drain in the US as these brilliant former NIH researchers, and others across the country who lost funding and therefore their jobs, look abroad for work.

I knew the cuts were bad. After listening to 3 people who work at NIH - a research doc, a nurse, and another emp whose exact job was unclear to me (perhaps intentionally bcz free speech is under threat & the regime is hellbent on revenge)

These judges ruled against Trump. Then their families came under attack. As federal judges rule against the Trump administration in dozens of politically charged cases, the families of at least 11 of the jurists have been targeted with threats and harassment. The intimidation campaign has strained judges and their relatives – and legal scholars fear it could have a chilling effect on the judiciary.
