It's so frustrating to see yet another new record: 17,112 people, including 11,793 adults and 5,319 children accessed emergency accommodation in January, while there are over 160,000 empty houses and 20,000 derelict houses in Ireland.๐Ÿ˜ก

Today's Trinity College 22,000-strong student body is roughly comparable to, or could exceed, the entire population of Dublin City at the time Trinity opened in 1592.

Sarsfield House office block in Limerick is likely to be demolished, but wouldnt it be better to retrofit it and create 90โ€“130 social & affordable apartments? Retrofitting is cheaper & faster than demolition and new construction. Plus, the greenest building is one that already exists.

There's a good reason past generations of town planners avoided building houses and shops on river floodplains, which they clearly marked on their historical OS maps.

The Dandelion Market on South King Street was a popular Dublin market that operated from 1970 to 1981. The market was significant in U2's early career, featuring 10 performances by the band, including 8 shows in 1979.

Rice's Pub on St. Stephen's Green and the Dandelion Market on South King Street were demolished in 1986 to make way for the St. Stephen's Green Shopping Centre. The Slazenger family had assembled the site over 15 years, beginning in 1966.

Poorly engineered bridge, which acts as an obstruction in Enniscorthy when the Slaney River floods. A good reason the old Enniscorthy Bridge was built further downriver and at a sufficient height in 1775โ€”unlike the Seamus Rafter Bridge, built in 1991,which the OPW now plans to demolish

One potential solution to save the Portland Row pitch could be to replicate the example of nearby Belvedere College, which converted its unused roof spaces into a playing pitch and athletics track.

Four derelict buildings in Mayo town are set to be demolished and turned into housingโ€” Local authorities must ensure that our traditional streetscapes are redeveloped sympathetically, prioritising renovation over demolition to reduce our carbon footprint.

An increase of 5,454 homeless people in just two years shows that the government's 'Housing For All' policies have failed and need radical change.

11,542 people homeless (record high)
๐Ÿ“ˆNov 2024:
15,199 (another record, +32%)
