What an obtuse, spiteful, unrealistic thing to say.

Sharing this because 1) so many people don't understand how hard LEGAL immigration is and 2) the consequences of war go so far beyond battlefields.

Now the sister is in Pakistan & my colleague is trying to get someone at the Australia home office to send the authorization for her sister to go to the embassy & get her biometrics. She's already two weeks into this visa. Time is running out. This will be the last chance for this.

After more than 4 years of trying & a lot of money, my Afghan colleague in Australia managed to get her sister a 2 month visa to Pakistan. The sister got the last plane out of Kabul as the Iran war started - the Taliban were so distracted they didn't realize she was traveling alone.
