New on our website: rare #firstedition (Lyon, 1547) of Andrea Alciati's expanded "Emblematum libellus", beautifully bound by Marcelin Lortic (1852-1928) for Victor Masséna d'Essling et de Rivoli (1836-1910). Incl. the beautiful woodcut series made for De Tournes by Bernard Salomon (ca. 1506-1559).

We are currently exhibiting at viaLibri's Virtual Showcase. Our online stand contains 20 interesting items, including this #firstedition (Rotterdam, 1677) of the important Dutch translation by Francois van Hoogstraten of Thomas More's enduring classic #Utopia.

Our #bookoftheday is Giuseppe Ceredi's "Tre discorsi sopra il modo d'alzar acque da'luoghi bassi". Published in 1567, it's not only 1 of the earliest works on hydraulic engineering, it must also be considered as 1 of the most important publications in the history of the subject. In musical binding.

#onthisday in 1715 Alessandro Zondadari entered #Siena as new archbishop. For this special occassion five triumphal arches were erected at various locations in the city. Depicted here are original ink and ink-wash #drawings of these arches. Find out more on our website.

Our book of the day is a wonderful treasure trove of 16th- and 17th-century European knowledge of the world: the most extensive edition of Sebastian Münster's monumental "Cosmographia" (Basel, 1628), with almost 1600 illustrations, maps and views.

Our #bookoftheday is a beautifully hand-colored copy, with liberal use of gold, of 1st edition (1765) of verse rendition by Willem Sels of the story of King Solomon. Splendidly bound by so-called "Three Acorn Bindery" in Amsterdam. All 12 plates beautifully drawn and engraved by Reinier Vinkeles.
