Today's updated outlook.

Widepsread thunderstorms likely for Alberta with the possibilty of severe, there is also a funnel cloud risk for southern Alberta into southwestern Sask.

Smoke remains an issue for the northern prairies.

Today’s updated outlook.

Not much going on today with non-severe thundershowers in the north possible.

Also, very low chance of an isolated storm along the foothills but it’s also not zero.

Edmonton friends, if you haven’t yet been to Tulip (Otto’s lunchtime incarnation) run don’t walk. I popped in today and got an unbelievably tasty Denver Strata. Think savoury bread pudding topped with Hollandaise. It’s just about too good for words.

Friday's thunderstorm outlook.

To note, that circle around Edmonton indicates funnel cloud potential (usually of the cold core variety), not tornado potential.

The zebra jumping spider.

Commonly found in urban areas such as gardens, around buildings and including in your house, they are tiny but mighty.

They don’t spin webs but can jump about 10cm.

They are highly unlikely to bite and are not aggressive (unless they feel threatened).

June is the start of baby season! In Alberta, most females will have given birth by the end of June, but many give birth earlier, especially warm seasons (like this year!) - anyone with bats in buildings should leave them be until September if any specific management is planned. πŸ¦‡

A male eastern bluebird. A rarity for the Edmonton area and Alberta. Male Eastern Bluebirds are vivid, deep blue above and rusty or brick-red on the throat and breast. Blue in birds always depends on the light, and males often look plain gray-brown from a distance. Females are grayish above with bluish wings and tail, and a subdued orange-brown breast.

Do you use compressed gas for cleaning/dusting a lot?
I do, and the cannisters are expensive. Any recommendations for where to purchase or for a cordless device that does the same thing?

Hummingbirds are among our most bold birds and yes they frequently investigate intense colours and patterns as they seek out flowery foods.

This photograph captures Sir David Attenborough seated outdoors on the rugged terrain of Skomer Island. Behind him, the ocean and coastal cliffs form a scenic backdrop under a clear sky. Sir David, dressed in a khaki jacket and light trousers, looks towards the camera with a gentle expression, exuding a sense of warmth, calm, and wisdom. Around him, puffins can be seen flying and perched on the rocky ground, illuminated in rays of golden sunlight as the sun sets behind the cliffs.

"Why do Boomers want everything so overcooked?" Baby, you're about to find out why. Get a food thermometer. Find a farm share, and get ready to change how you eat. Also canned good are about to be your best friend

People are already booking their farm shares. We're thinking we might need to find some people to go in on a quarter cow with us. And yes that's privilege talking, but also that's going to be one of very few ways to access safer food. You're going to need to know your farmer personally.
