Worked for over 30 years in and around the EU institutions. Weary of the Brexit lies politicians still spout. No party affiliation but proud European Movement member. Follow back genuine active #FBPE and pro-EU accounts based in UK and rest of Europe. ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช

Farage urged to explain conspiracy theories linked to antisemitism he voiced in US media Exclusive: The Reform UK leader discussed far-right talking points in web TV and radio appearances between 2009 and 2018

We need to drop this idea that exposing Farage as a nasty bloke is cutting much ice. We know this. His followers know it. Much better to relentlessly attack the deep and lasting harm he has done to the nation by securing hard Brexit.

I know itโ€™s putting a dampener on the growing enthusiasm for Polanski and the Greens (Heaven knows we need a charismatic counterweight to Farage) but isnโ€™t their pledge to leave NATO going to turn a lot of people off?

Rachel Reeves is studiously ignoring the cause of Britainโ€™s woes: the Brexit-shaped hole in its roof | Jonathan Freedland The autumn budget will mop up some damage, but the true source of the economic crisis is clear. The government should now fix it โ€“ tragically, it wonโ€™t, says Guardian columnist Jonathan Freedland

More politicians and pundits need to say the Emperor has no clothes. Until governments of whatever stripe admit that Brexit is making us poorer than we would have been and depriving us of sorely needed money for public goods, theyโ€™ll remain stuck in denial.

โ€œDid Nathan Gill ever say anything you disagree with in return for his bribes from a Kremlin stooge?โ€

โ€œDid you, in your roles as his boss, friend, mentor & party leader, ever question his full-throated support for an enemy of the UK and if not, why not?โ€

You can have those for nothing, lads.

Gill-ty as charged.

I wonder if Nigel Farage will be giving a press conference on this one?

Ordinarily the govt would be using these wretched figures to cudgel Farage (and the Tories) but it canโ€™t because, in two monumental acts of myopic stupidity, Labour backed the deal which has caused the damage (it could have abstained) and then enshrined the worst of it in its own 2024 manifesto.

These are Farage's boats โ€“ we must not let him off the hook We must bring Brexit into the equation

โ€œWe must not allow the public to forget that these are Farageโ€™s boats.โ€

The man has been instrumental in undermining the national interest. His tenure as PM, if the UK were mad enough to allow it, would be a disaster for which heโ€™d never accept blame.

Clearly not as a Labour government has shown with its craven embrace of the Toriesโ€™ hard Brexit. Weโ€™re in the insane situation of three of the largest political forces in the country uniting in their denial of the damage it has done and will keep doing. Whereโ€™s the honesty in that?

To think folk like me were naive enough to suppose the electorate would quickly turn big-time against the main agents of Brexit for their contempt, dishonesty and willingness to do ongoing harm to the country.

Reform UK 'risking trade war' with plan to strip EU citizens of benefits Labour claimed Reform UK's move to strip Universal Credit payments would lead to a trade war between the UK and Brussels - pushing up prices on the shelves for British shoppers

Brexit was supposed to cure our national ills according to its fans but cured nothing. Now they canโ€™t point the finger at the EU, they need new scapegoats in their ongoing pantomime of f*cking stuff up and finding someone else to blame.

Brexit, immigration, asylum: this ghoulish harmony between Labour, the Tories and Reform under an electoral system likely to continue to deprive progressives of any meaningful voice renders our political system unfit for purpose.

After the Brexit referendum, the Tories felt compelled to lie in order to cover up the huge con trick theyโ€™d played on the electorate. They normalized dishonesty in government. And now Labour has decided to ape them. Donโ€™t think politics has looked this grim in my lifetime.

Labour has started lying about stuff in the way the Conservatives routinely lied. Thatโ€™s a problem if weโ€™re to have any hope of a healthy discussion about a lot of things and try to stave off, rather than pander to, the worst liars of all, who may form the next government.
