We are discussing this poem in the summer course I am teaching; it has been generative in such a good way with my students.

I don't like to speak badly of people. I have grown up thinking and being told that if you cannot say something nice about someone, you should not say anything at all. But I must break that rule in this case because I hate Hulk Hogan very much. He is a big ugly goon and I want to squash his face.

It gives me chills when Roman reigns comes back from 6 months of not showing up to work. The lesson is: show up to work less, you’ll be appreciated more

"I was born mid-migration. I’ve made my home in that motion."

Oh my this poem by @joseolivarez.bsky.social has captured me before + once again is doing so—and I cannot wait to begin this third week of #PoemADayJuly with it:

When @marcusluther.bsky.social shared his idea with @thevogelman.bsky.social and me about #PoemADayJuly, this poem + tomorrow’s immediately came to mind.

What I immediately notice is the omnipresence of death: it’s always waiting, and although gracious, is never far. That hit home this week. +

In the words of Nelson Mandela: it always seems impossible until it’s done.

My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it.

I am honored to be your Democratic nominee for the Mayor of New York City.

Mahmoud Khalil is finally home with his beautiful wife and newborn son.

Each one of the 104 days he spent detained was a grave injustice.

From the moment of his detention, @ccrjustice.org + @aclu.org engaged my office as we worked closely to help secure his release. They did remarkable work here.

I’ve been reading “You Sound Like A White Girl” by Julissa Arce and she included a portion of this poem, “Mexican American Disambiguation” by Jose Olivarez and probably the best piece on identity I have ever read.

Abolishing ICE is the centrist position here. It’s an illegal, extrajudicial force with no jurisdiction to stop or detain anyone. You’re just asking for the Gestapo to have clear labels.

Fuck liberals dude, my god
