Yeah those are both good notes and youre probably right then? Plumage doesnt seem especially helpful here so those might be the best markers. It does sort of seem like the bill could have that dark tip but that might be me hallucinating between the pixels

The neck seems so light but could it be canvasback? The bill would probably be more useful for that and im not great at ID’ing either of them

I think of hummingbirds as tropical, or at least warmer weather birds...so this Rufous hummer at the top of Steens Mountain.9500 feet above sea level and next to a snowbank was a bit jarring. #birding
